2013 Range Rover Sport Launch In India Possibly In October
2014MY/2013 Range Rover Sport, which received a classy unveiling by James Bond/Daniel Craig at the New York Motor Show is ready for its debut in India. Range Rover has reportedly planned to launch it on October 17.
2013 Range Rover Sport is totally different and new compared to the outgoing model. The most important change is the replacement of the ladder frame with an all-aluminium chassis, much like the Range Rover itself. This has resulted in a weight reduction of 420 kg over the outgoing model. The Sport is also 45 kg lighter than the larger Range Rover.

Dimension wise the Sport is 62 mm longer, 149 mm shorter and 55 mm lower than the Range Rover. The wheelbase is also 178 mm longer than the outgoing Sport. The added length and a slightly redesigned cabin provides a more spacious interior and allows for a third row of seats to be added, essentially making the 2013 Range Rover Sport an SUV with 5+2 seating config.
In terms of engine, the 3.0 liter V6 and the 5.0 liter V8 will make it to India. The former delivers 266 PS power and the latter 510 PS. Both engines will come mated to an eight speed automatic transmission, delivering power to all four wheels. Also worth mentioning is the Land Rover Terrain Response system - second gen - that will feature in the Sport.

Range Rover Sport will come to India via the import route. It can thus be expected to be priced above the Rs 1 crore mark and will be placed below the Range Rover.
