Volkswagen Up CNG Mileage At 34.5kmpl
Volkswagen has launched a CNG powered version of its UP small car in Europe. The VW UP CNG delivers an incredible mileage of 34.5 kmpl. The UP's mileage will be the one single reason for it to succeed in India if it is launched here.
Volkswagen has developed the UP small car considering the needs of emerging markets. But surprisingly it has not launched the UP in India despite the huge demand for such small cars in the Indian car market. We believe Volkswagen is trying to reduce production cost of the UP to suit Indian customers.

Reports say the Volkswagen UP CNG is capable of runnig on methane or biogas which is generated across rural India. CNG is not available as extensively as petrol or diesel but Indian oil companies are slowly increasing CNG networks.
Volkswagen has so far not indicated when it will launch the UP in India. The car has been sighted a couple of times in India late last year. We had then speculated the VW UP will be unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo in January 2012. However, our expectations were dashed when Volkswagen India did not even mention the small car during the bi-annual event.
The Volkswagen UP has been launched in Europe with a new one litre diesel engine and a petrol engine. Volkswagen's sister brands Skoda and Scania have also launched their own versions based on the Up's platform.
