Volkswagen Touareg's India Launch Confirmed

Volkswagen India has finally confirmed it will be launching the Touareg in India by updating its website with details of the latest version. The Touareg has been a raging success in several countries and it was a little surprising that Volkswagen India delayed the launch of the new Touareg.

The German carmaker's new Touareg is longer than the current model by 40mm. This means the interior will be more spacious. To add to this Volkswagen has reduced the weight of the new Touareg by 200 kilos. This means better fuel economy as well as performance.

New Volkswagen Touareg - Engine & Power

The new Touareg will be powered by a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine which can generate maximum power of 236bhp and 550Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an eight speed automatic gearbox.

The new Volkswagen Touareg will have several new features such as rear view camera on the dash board, touch screen multi infotainment system, Bluetooth, adjustable power seats, key-less entry, dual zone automatic climate control, foldable rear seats for increased luggage space, automatic bi-xenon headlamps and many more.

New Volkswagen Touareg - Safety Features

The New Touareg's has been equipped with safety features such as driver and passenger air bags, ESP (electronic stability programme) and ABS (anti-lock braking system).

New Volkswagen Touareg - Rivals

Despite its large size, the new Volkswagen Touareg will be available only as a five seater. It will be competing against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz ML Class and the BMW X5.

Audi Q7 - PLatform Partner

The new Volkswagen Touareg, the Audi Q7 and the Porsche Cayenne share the same platform.

The New Volkswagen Touareg is expected to be priced under Rs.60 lakhs in India. As our reader's know, the Touareg shares its platform with other cars such as the Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne. There is a possibility of the same platform being used for the Lamborghini Urus SUV too.
