Volkswagen Polo To Get A New Diesel Engine

Currently the Volkswagen Polo is rolled out with a 1.2 litre petrol and diesel engine. The diesel engine has not been up to par and has been criticized for low performance. Moreover, the 1.2 litre engine is a 3 cylinder engine and the upcoming 1.5 litre engine will be a four cylinder engine.
Drivespark believes the upcoming 1.5 litre engine, could be a downsized engine of the 1.6 litre Vento engine. However, the new engine is proposed to be assembled in India. Volkswagen is working on developing the new engine with a new bore*stroke, pistons, piston rings and connecting rods.
Volkswagen is looking to take the competition to Maruti and Hyundai who are currently leading the Hatchback war. Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i20 hatchbacks are being offered with a more refined 1.3 and 1.4 litre engines.
If the polo is to get the new engine which is currently under development, then we can expect the future Skoda Rapids to also roll out in this avatar.
