Toyota Recalls Corolla Altis and Camry

Toyota Camry
Toyota India has announced a voluntary recall of Corolla Altis (30th July 2008 - 31st Dec 2008) and Camry (1st Sep 2006 - 31st Jul 2008). Toyota India would like to recall these cars to inspect Power Window Master Switch (PWMS) on these models. Close to 8,700 cars will be recalled. Toyota has made it clear that this campaign is on a voluntary basis.

Toyota is suspecting the PWMS to become inoperative on the specified year models. One of the reasons can be due to wear and tear over-time, of specific contact points in the PWMS. All the owners who fall in this recall campaign will be notified by letter/ call from Toyota.

The Recall Campaign is scheduled from November onwards, across all authorized Toyota dealers in India. If you have any queries on the same, you can contact the nearest Toyota dealer to find out if your vehicle falls under this campaign.

Authorized Toyota dealers have been instructed to inspect and replace (if deemed necessary) at no charge to the vehicle owner.

The repair is said to take approximately one hour, depending on the dealer's work schedule. Toyota for the moment has confirmed that no other Toyota models, sold in India, are covered by this recall campaign.

Toyota has requested its customers not to panic as this is not a safety hazard, but only a precautionary measure, voluntarily carried out by the company.
