Tata Aria Base Variant At INR 9.95 Lakhs

Tata Motors has knocked out a few features for the Aria Pure LX 4x2 base variant. The base variant does not have features like a music system, rear wiper, airbags and roof storage spaces. The leather seats have also now been replaced with synthetic.
However, some features that have been retained are, glove box chiller, electrically adjustable OVRMs, ABS, EBD, keyless entry and puddle lamps.
On the exterior, Tata has dropped features like chrome garish for the grille and the doors, fog lamps and follow me home function on the headlamps.
The big question which popped in our mind, was the engine. Tata has retained the 2.2-litre Dicor engine that produces 138bhp and 320Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five speed manual transmission. This engine also does duties under the hood of the Tata Safari.
What are your thoughts on the new base version of the Aria? We believe Tata Motors is looking to target the fleet market with this base variant of the Aria. Will this base variant at this price provide stiff competition to Mahindra Xylo and Toyota Innova's or its future is a taxicab?
