The Lodgy MPV for India will receive new Indian specific interiors. The Lodgy is developed by the romanian manufacturer Dacia which is currently a subsidiary of Renault.
Renault is currently wooing Indian customers by its Duster SUV. However, the company is keeping a close eye on Maruti's recent development and its success with the Ertiga. If you are not aware of the facts, Dacia is a romanian car manufacturer which is now a subsidiary of the French Auto maker. The Lodgy MPV in India when launched will adopt its own renault brand logo instead of Dacia.
If we have to look at certain combinations, we can then consider that the Lodgy MPV in India will be powered by a 1.5 diesel K9K engine. This engine currently does the job under most Renault cars in India.
For the Lodgy, we can expect the 84bhp version of the K9K motor to do the job. Let's not forget it will be directly slated against Maruti's Ertiga. The petrol engine on the other hand will be powered by a 1.6 litre, 84 bhp petrol engine. If Renault wishes they can also equip the top-level variants of the Lodgy with the 110 horsepower engine which currently does the job in the Duster.
We expect Renault to showcase the Dacia sourced Lodgy MPV at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Renault is targeting the compact SUV and MPV segments in India aggressively. Do you think the Lodgy will capture the attention of Indians?
Drivespark Thinks! The MPV segment is growing at a rapid pace. With Duster doing well in India, it has really helped renault's brand image. The Dacia sourced Lodgy will help Renault's cause in increasing the market share in the MPV segment. Pricing is the Key!
