Peugeot 301 Global Sedan Readying For India Launch
French carmaker Peugeot is planning to re-enter India with the launch of its recently unveiled 301 sedan. The 301 global sedan is expected to arrive in the country by end of 2013.
It has been a flow of foreign carmakers to the Indian market to explore the huge opportunities here. With German, American, Japanese and Korean auto giants enjoying great success in India, the latest is Peugeot to announce its re-entry into one of the fastest growing markets. Peugeot has been selling its 309 cars in the country before it ended its unsuccessful partnership with India Premier Automobiles.
The 301 is a sedan that has been particularly designed for emerging markets. The 301 offers neat styling along with all modern facilities and comfort and practicality.
The sedan would be offered with two petrol and one diesel engines - a 1.2 liter VTi 53 kW engine that produces peak power of 72 hp with manual or driven gearbox, 1.6 liter HDi 68 kW churning out 92 hp with manual transmission and 1.6 liter VTi 85 kW generating 115 hp power with manual or automatic gearbox. The 301 is expected to be priced around Rs 8 lakhs when launched in India.
