GM To Launch Upgraded Chevrolet Cruze Today
Earlier we had reported that Chevrolet will be launching the upgraded new Cruze D-segment sedan on June 27 (today). Latest news is that the American carmaker will launch the new upgraded Cruze later today in New Delhi. The carmaker has been posting teaser images on Facebook to arouse excitement on the launch of the new Cruze.
The Cruze has been one car that changed the fortunes of General Motors along with the Beat small car. However, it is not the facelifted Cruze that was showcased at the recent Busan Motor that is being launched now.

The new Chevrolet Cruze will not be getting many cosmetic design changes like the many updates that other cars get. Instead the new Cruze will now get the new lively Z-series of turbo charged diesel engines. The Cruze is available in India only in its diesel variant and Chevrolet has not bothered to bring a petrol variant.
The new Cruze's Z-Series engine is expected to be more rev happy and responsive. With a square bore-stroke layout, this engine will also be smooth. The current model is powered by the VCDi engine which has been criticised for the long lag. The major complaint from Cruze drivers is about the lack of power from the engine particular while driving in slow moving traffic.
The new Cruze's Z-Series engine is expected to have a shorter turbo lag helping in improving the sedan's driveability. Further the engine delivers more power and torque than the existing model. You will now have 164bhp and 380Nm of torque at your disposal while driving the new Cruze.
This is an additional 16bhp of power and 53Nm of torque more than the existing model. Chevrolet will be launching two variants of the Cruze, one with the six speed manual gearbox and another with the automatic transmission.
However, the Cruze has been getting a little old and a design makeover could have made the car superb. We'll have to wait till the launch to know if there is any difference in the price tag of the new Cruze. The current model is priced at Rs 12.54 lakhs for the base model.
We'll keep you posted with more updates on the launch of the new Chevrolet Cruze, stay tuned.
