New BMW 3 Series Launch This July End
German premium carmaker BMW will launch the highly awaited new 3-series (F30) sedan by the end of July. The 2012 3-series which will be assembled locally at the carmaker's Chennai plant is expected to be priced around Rs 22 lakhs for the base model.
The new BMW 3-series will be available in three variants - Sports Line, Modern Line and Luxury Line. Also the new BMW 3-series will come in both petrol and diesel options.
The petrols models - 320i and the 328i will be powered by a 2 litre four cylinder engine producing 184PS / 270 Nm and 245 PS / 350 Nm respectively. Meanwhile, the diesel models - 320d and the 330d comprise of 2 litres engines producing 184 PS / 380 Nm and 262 PS / 560 Nm respectively.
These motors will be mated to a new eight-speed ZF transmission (automatic) that is available on the current 5-series The new BMW 3 series has grown a little and offers more cabin space.
It will interesting to the see the competition hotting up in the premium car segment with many car choices available. The new BMW 3-series' main competitors are Mercedes Benz C-class, the Audi A4, the Nissan Teana and the Volvo S60. Also there are many SUVs in the price range.
