Maruti Suzuki's 3.12 Lakh Discount For Kizashi
The Kizashi was hailed as Maruti Suzuki's first step towards becoming a premium car seller in India. Maruti Suzuki's move up market has not been as great success as the premium sedan has not been able to match the expectations the carmaker had in terms of sales. With a starting price of Rs.17.12 lakhs, the Kizashi was a very different car when compared to other Maruti Suzuki products.
Now with sales plummeting over 85% between April and August to just a handful Maruti Suzuki has decided to provide a discount of a staggering Rs.3.12 lakhs on the Kizashi. The Kizashi's high price which is due to it being a fully imported car made it a difficult car to sell when other premium sedans are now available at a much lower price.

Maruti Suzuki in an effort to publicize this discount scheme for the Kizashi has tied up with Kotak Mahindra. Kotak Mahindra will be promoting the Kizashi discount offer to its customers.
The Maruti Suzuki Kizashi's price for the manual variant after the discount is Rs.14 lakhs while the automatic variant costs Rs.15 lakhs. This price will make its more competitive against the likes of the Nissan Teana, Skoda Superb, Honda Accord and the Hyundai Sonata.
Maruti Suzuki had earlier stated that the Kizashi would remain a fully imported product. But it might have to reconsider its plans if it wants to regain some sales. If the Kizashi is locally assembled, its price will drop even more significantly as its price currently includes the 105% import duty.
Maruti Suzuki might look in to assembling the Kizashi in India after looking in to the result of the new discount it is offering. The Kizashi discount could bring in some new buyers but Maruti Suzuki's image of a manufacturer of small and inexpensive cars might act as a deterrent.
