High Waiting Period For Ertiga Top End Variants
One of the most sought after cars of the moment, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been doing wonders for the company from the time of its launch. So much has been the demand of the MPV that it crossed 32,000 bookings within just one month of its launch.
However, the huge demand for the Ertiga seems to be causing trouble for the carmaker. The latest news is that the Ertiga's waiting period has been increased from the already high 3 months to an even long nine months.
Interstingly, the high waiting period is for the top petrol and diesel variants of the Ertiga which comes with alloy wheels. Alloy wheels are only offered on top end variants like the Zxi (petrol variant) and Zdi (diesel variant) and the shortage of the material which is sourced from an international supplier is said to be the reason behind the so long waiting period.
It need not be specified that it is the diesel variant of the Ertiga that is high on demand owing to the sky high petrol price in the country. One of the major reasons for the high demand of the MPV is its highly competitive pricing comparing to rivals.
However, there has been reports that Maruti Suzuki may hike the 'introductory prices' of the Ertiga. Introductory pricing has been a policy the carmaker has been following since a few launches now. The company would give a highly competitive price tag at the time of the launch and later hike the price according to demand of the car.
Coming back to the Ertiga, the seven seater MPV which is available in seven variants comes with a highly affordable starting price of Rs 5.89 lakhs for the base petrol variant. The disel model which is powerd by a fiat sourced 1.3 litre multijet engine comes with a starting price of Rs 7.3 lakhs for the base model. The disel model also claims an incredible mileage of around 20 kmpl.
