Ssangyong Rexton Launched At INR 17 Lakhs
Mahindra has finally launched the much awaited Rexton SUV from the Ssangyong Stable. The Korean manufacturer was acquired by Mahindra in February 2011.
The Ssangyong Rexton SUV that has been launched in India is the third generation of the Rexton. The Rexton SUV is currently being offered in a diesel engine and two variants, the RX5 manual transmission and RX7 automatic transmission.

The Ssangyong Rexton is available in two variants which will be powered by a 2.7 litre 5 cylinder diesel engine.
The two variants are RX5 (TOD) and RX7 (AWD).
The RX5 variant is powered by the 2.7 litre diesel engine. The power output on the RX5 manual transmission is 162 Bhp @ 4000 rpm.
The RX7 is powered by the same engine and comes in automatic transmission, however the power output stands at 184 Bhp @ 4000 rpm.
The Rexton RX5 5 speed manual transmission is priced at INR 17.67 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra).
The RX7 E-tronic automatic transmission is priced at INR 19.67 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra).
When it comes to luxury and comfort the Rexton SUV will be offered in dual tone black and beige interiors premium leather upholstery.
The company has given close attention when it comes to design. Ssangyong Rexton's SUV sports eagle eye shaped projector headlamps with L shaped parking lights.
The Rexton SUV also sports OVRMS (Outside Rear View Mirror) with integrated LED turn indicators.
The Rexton RX7 SUV is offered in an automatic transmission. Keeping in mind the tough Indian traffic conditions the company has offered the top end variant with an all wheel drive (AWD) E-tronic automatic transmission.
The Rexton RX5 on the other hand is offered in a 5 speed manual transmission with an intelligent 4x4 torque on demand system (TOD)
The big question when an SUV is launched in India is the fuel efficiency and performance as well.
The Rexton RX5 returns 12.4 kilometers per litre of diesel as per ARAI and the RX7 11.18 kilometers per litre of diesel as per ARAI.
The Rexton SUV is offered in Satin White, Moondust Silver, Volcano Black and Opulent purple color.
The Rexton SUV comes equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system with MP3, DVD, USB port, & Aux-in and 6 speakers.
Apart from that some of the interesting features are steering mounted audio controls, keyless entry, sunglass holder, front glove box illumination, driver and co-driver front sunvisors with vanity mirrors and lights.
Rexton SUV when it comes down to performance the rexton comes equipped with an independent double wishbone front suspension with anti-roll bar and independent 5-link rear suspension with anti-roll bar.
On the Data clock the Rexton SUV RX5 clocks out at 180kph and RX7 at 194 kph. From the safety Ssangyong has equipped the Rexton with ABS, Electronic Stability Program with off switch, Anti Slip Regulation, Active Roller Protection, Hill Descent control with on-off switch, dual front and side airbags.
