Hyundai Motor India had opened the Elantra's bookings weeks before its official launch. The Elantra launched here in India is the fifth generation model. The Hyundai Elantra's price is between Rs.12.51 lakhs and Rs.15.85 lakhs making it a direct competitor of established car models such as the Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Laura etc.
The new Hyundai Elantra is available with both petrol and diesel engines. There are three petrol variants and four petrol variants. The petrol powered Hyundai Elantra gets a 1.8-litre engine while the diesel variant is powered by a 1.6-litre CRDi.
Hyundai has been able to generate so many bookings for the Elantra as it has set the premium sedan's price intelligently. The feature rich Elantra's price means people can enjoy most of the features that they like in the Sonata at a lower price. The Sonata which has not been a sales success due to it lacking a diesel engine has now found a home grown competition in the form of the new Elantra.
Hyundai has claimed the new Elantra will offer a fuel efficent performance with a claimed mileage of 22.7kmpl for the diesel variant and 16.3 kmpl fir the petrol variant. The mileage is not the only reasom behind the Hyundai Elantra's bookings going high. Hyundai is offering a warranty of four years or 100,000 kilometres along with road side assistance.
