Hindustan Motors To Assemble Pajero Sport
The Pajero Sport was priced at INR 24.43 (ex-showroom Delhi). However, now with the local assembly kicked-off, the Pajero Sport is priced at INR 22.56 lakhs.
Hindustan Motors Managing Director Uttam Bose commented on this development. "We are pleased to announce our start of production of the Pajero Sport in our Tiruvallur plant and are happy to extend the price benefit to our customers. Pajero Sport will look at capturing 20 per cent of the premium SUV segment in the country." He also added, "India has in the recent past seen an increased desire for SUVs. Pajero Sport will further consolidate its position in the Indian market."
Currently, about 14 per cent of the components for the Pajero Sport are localized. Components such as tyre, battery, window glass, seat belts, lamps, wiper assembly, alloy wheels and headlining are the major items, which are being localised at its Tiruvallur plant. The company by the next fiscal year will be looking to improve localisation by upto 30 per cent.
The Mitsubishi Pajero sport is powered by a 2.5L diesel engine that produces 178 PS power and a torque of 400 Nm. The Pajero Sport is known for its best in class turning radius of 5.6 m and 4 wheel drive technology.
