Ford EcoSport To Come At A High Value Price
There is something very exciting for Ford EcoSport fans. Reports are that the EcoSport compact SUV would carry a highly affordable price tag that would make it much more cheaper than expected.
The reason being high localisation plan the American carmaker is aiming at. Ford is looking to localise production of the 5-seater SUV by about 80%. Ford had done the same with the Figo hatchback and Classic sedan which are selling in huge numbers due to perfect pricing.
With the high localisation plans, Ford could price the EcoSport somewhere between Rs 7-9 lakhs. Ford will be selling the EcoSport's base model at BRL 53,490 which converts to approx. Rs 14.5 lakhs. However, we had told that these prices will not reflect EcoSport's price in India as tax structure and market conditions differ from market-to-market.
Moreover, Ford will have to take a value price approach with the arrival of highly competitively priced Renault Duster SUV and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV. Ford has already had its share of trouble in the market with the wrong pricing strategy for its vehicles like the all new Fiesta sedan.
Ford India Managing Director Mr Michael Boneham has also clearly stated that the carmaker wiil not repeat its previous mistakes and will price the EcoSport affordably. The SUV which is expected to launch early next year will be available in both petrol and diesel guises.
