BMW Sells 3 Lakh X1 Crossovers In Just 2.5 Years
The highest selling car in the BMW X series, the German carmker has sold 3 lakh X1 cars all over the globe in just 2.5 years. The X1 is a five seater crossover which is the carmaker's entry level car in India.
The base petrol model of the BMW X1 comes with a price tag of Rs 22.5 lakhs. Much of its massive success can be attributed to the fact that it did not have a straight competitor till now. It is recently only Audi launched the X1's straight rival - Q3 and another German carmaker Mercedes Benz is yet to launch its B Class premium hatchback.
The X1 recently got a facelift also to make it stand tough against its rivals. The model was highly criticised during its launch sating that the X1 did not stand up to the brand's other cars. However, the crossover took everything straight on and proved to be a massive success for the carmaker.
The X1 has won many accolades including many international awards since its launch in 2009. Off-roader of the year in the "Crossover" category, New car of the year 2010 are some of the awards that the X1 was bestowed with.
The BMW X1 came top of its class by virtue of its high product quality and popularity. The highest possible score of five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test, moreover, confirmed the outstanding occupant protection and comprehensive safety features provided by the BMW X1.
