Bill Gates' 1979 Porsche Up For Auction In Austria
A 1979 model Porsche firstly owned by Microsoft chairman Bill Gates has been scheduled to go under the hammer in Vienna, Austria next month. According to the auctioneers, the Porsche 911 was bought by Bill Gates in 1979 at New Mexico just four years after he had founded Microsoft with partner Paul Allen.
Interestingly, Gates was slapped with three tickets at the same night for over speeding the Porsche 911 while on the way to Seattle. He was arrested and later Allen came to his rescue to bail him out.

The 1979 pearlescent turquoise Turbo model will be auctioned at the Vienna Auction House Dorotheum. There is a stack of receipts that comes along with the Porsche 911 which describes the entire work done on the car from its purchase - upgradation and maintenance with the expenses incurred.
The car shows the record of a rebuilt 3.3 liter air cooled flat six engine and a new paint job in the original color of the car in the recent past. The Porsche 911 is expected to be sold somewhere between 40,000 to 50,000 Euros.
Gates sold the car in 1990s and later it was registered in Austria. The 911 still posses features that are US specific. The auction house says that the car is fine on records with them having letters to and from Microsoft and Porsche and the original Washington State USA registration documents.
