Audi Launches S4 High Performance Model At Rs 45L
Expanding its product line up in India, German luxury carmaker Audi has launched the S4 high performance variant at Rs 45 lakhs (ex-showroom Maharashtra). The S4 which is the big brother of the A4 will be sold through 19 Audi showrooms across the country.
Audi India Head Michael Perschke said at the launch: "With impressive sales growth in the first five months of this year and the launch of the Audi TT, new Audi A4 and now Audi S4, 2012 is proving to be an exciting time for us." Audi has grabbed the no. 2 position in luxury car sales pushing another German carmaker Mercedes Benz to no. 3. Now its only BMW ahead of the carmaker and eyeing at the no.1 position, the carmaker has been launching more and more variants.
Coming back to the S4, the sporty car features a powerful V6 3.0 TFSI engine which can speed the car to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. The turbo charged petrol engine uses direct injection to produce a peak power of 333 Bhp and 440 Nm of peak torque.
The extra power of the S4 will be transmitted to all four wheels through Audi's legendary Quattro all wheel drive system. The engine is mated to a 7 speed DSG dual clutch unit with S-Tronic mode operating through paddle shifts. The S4 claims a mileage of 10.44 kmpl which is very impressive considering the high performance of the car.
The S4 also features sport suspension which lowers the car by 20 mm and upgraded brakes to handle the car's extra power. The S4 gets revised styling that makes the car look different from the A4.
Styling changes include new xenon headlamps, LED tail lamps, Platinum Gray radiator grille inserts, an S4 badge and 18 inch wheels. The interior also features sporty styling with the S4 getting a leather multifunction sport steering wheel with the S4 badge and a lot of aluminum used inside. This will be a real buy for Audi A4 lovers who were looking for that extra oomph
