Audi Launches A8L 4.2 TDI At Rs 1Crore

As reported earlier Audi India has launched the Audi A8L 4.2 TDI. The luxurious diesel sedan is priced at INR 1,00,75,000 onwards (ex-showroom Maharashtra). Audi will slate the newly launched A8L above the 3.0 TDI Quattro. Audi has announced that the first A8L 4.2 TDI will be handed over to Abhishek Bachchan. Audi seems to have a liking with Bollywood stars. Earlier Audi had gifted Salman Khan with a Q7.

The newly launched A8 is powered by 4.2-litre V8 bi-turbo diesel engine. Audi claims that the engine produces 350 PS of power and a thrusting 800Nm of torque. If your wondering if its the same engine from the Audi Q7, your guesses are right! The 4.2 litre V8 b-turbo engine has been mated to 8-speed sequential automatic gearbox along with a quattro all wheel drive system. The Quattro all wheel drive system enables the power to be distributed to all four wheels.

On the speed track this diesel variant Audi A8L 4.2 TDI manages to hit 100kph in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 250kph. If you are wondering about the fuel efficiency, Audi claims 13.1kpl.

Audi currently offers the A8L with a 4.2-litre V8 FSI petrol engine, 6.3-litre W12 petrol engine and 3.0-litre TDI diesel engine. With the new addition of the A8L 4.2 TDI, Audi is hoping to boost their sales volumes. Currently BMW leads the war followed by Audi and Mercedes-Benz in India. Audi has been the fastest growing luxury brand in India 2011 and recorded a 98% growth in July (YoY).
