Bentley Motors, which was famous for its stately limousines added the Continental GT two door sports car to its line-up to diversify its stables. Little did Bentley bosses know that this very car would become their best selling car. Following the huge success of the Continental line of models, Bentley has now unveiled the 2012 Continental GT Speed, its fastest ever production car.
The new 2012 Bentley Continental GT speed is aimed at Bentley enthusiasts who like the Bentley's luxury as well as sporty performance. The new Continental GT speed can reach a top speed of 329kmph or 205mph. This is an incredible top speed for a car that weighs close to two tonnes.

The Continental GT Speed is the sportier version of the regular GT and is powered by a twin turbocharged six litre W12 engine that is capable of generating an incredible 616bhp and 800Nm of torque. Bentley has claimed the new Continental GT Speed can accelerate to 100kmph from 0 in just 4.2 seconds.
The Bentley's W12 engine is mated with an eight speed ZF automatic gearbox that delivers slick shifts within the blink of an eye. Bentley has claimed this new gearbox will help improve the GT Speed's mileage by 12 per cent. To further enhance the GT Speed, Bentley has tuned the chassis, suspension and steering system to delivers more livelier performance.
Bentley has made some slight cosmetic changes to the new GT Speed to show its sporty character. The most notable ones are its dark tinted matrix grille, lower air intakes and twin exhaust tail pipes. Bentley will start taking orders for the new Continental GT Speed and deliveries are stated to begin from October this year.
Bentley Motors chairman and chief executive Wolfgang Dürheimer in his statement to the media said: "For nearly a decade, the Bentley Continental GT has defined high luxury, high performance grand touring and the unique W12 engine has been so successful that Bentley is now the world's largest producer of 12-cylinder engines. The new GT Speed with its harder-edged, sportier character reaffirms this pinnacle positioning and continues to broaden the worldwide appeal of the Continental coupe."
