Mahindra To Launch All New Scorpio In 2 Years

The Mahindra Bolero is the only SUV SUV that registers more sales than the Scorpio in India. Discounting the Bolero, the Scorpio is the highest selling entry level SUV in India. Despite its stellar performance on and off the road as well as on the sales race, Mahindra believes the Scorpio cannot remain on the top without a new look and feel.
Hence it has assigned a group of engineers to a project named W105. W105 is the project name of the all new Scorpio. Engineers are working ion the W105 at Mahindra's recently opened research facility in Chennai.
The all new Mahindra Scorpio is expected to carry much of its core design but there will be subtle changes to make it look more aggressive and rugged. Further Mahindra is expected to give the new Scorpio more powerful engines to match its looks. Mahindra had earlier said it would be launching several new models in the coming two years and the all new Scorpio is definitely one of them.
The reason behind Mahindra working to improve upon an already successful Scorpio could be due to emerging competitors from other carmakers such as Maruti Suzuki, Ford, Toyota, Nissan and General Motors. All these carmakers are trying to take advantage of the fact that 16% of cars sold in India are now utility vehicles. Mahindra has been in the forefront of this segment since a decade and its success can be attributed to the Scorpio and recent launches such as the Xylo and the XUV 500.
The All new Scorpio will not be the first time Mahindra has fiddled with the Scorpio. Mahindra has launched several variants of the Scorpio including a completely stripped out low cost variant as well as a fully loaded six speed automatic version that also came with micro hybrid technology. With competition expected to hot up we expect Mahindra to make the all new Scorpio a special car indeed.
