Will The Mahindra XUV 500 Be As Good As Innova?
If you are wondering why we are comparing these two cars it is because the Innova is completed more than half of its product life cycle and the XUV 500 has just about started. The Innova has been a very reliable performer that has offered best in cabin comfort for an MUV.
The XUV 500 also promises to offer a rich ride. Moreover it is more powerful than the Innova and the interiors are also top notch. But the real test of character for the Mahindra XUV 500 will be when we compare its reliability.
The Innova has been a huge success not only for its ride, comfort and space but also for its mechanical reliability. Toyota's badge of quality has been so good that buyers have said they never had to spend too much on the Innova's service. One buyer has even said the only money he had spent on the Innova was for Fuel.
The XUV 500 is just about reaching customers and we need more time to understand its reliability. The other SUVs from Mahindra such as Xylo and the Bolero have shown some signs of weakness as some buyers have reported frequent visits to the mechanic. The XUV 500 is built on a new platform but the engine is the time tested MHawk diesel.
Another point we should discuss is that The XUV being a new car and that too developed as a global car will have some small niggles and issues that need to be settled. These issues will mostly arise within one years and we should expect some slight changes that will make the XUV 500 better.
Toyota is preparing to launch a face lifted Innova soon. This facelift is most likely to be a cosmetic improvement rather than mechanical. The only possible change in the mechanics might be to improve the Innova's fuel consumption.
