Tata Sierra Review: Comprehensive Analysis and Driving Experience
Tata Motors launched the original Sierra in 1991, establishing it as an iconic SUV. Although it was discontinued in 2003, the Sierra is making a comeback. The new Tata Sierra is priced between ₹11.49 lakh and ₹18.49 lakh ex-showroom.
The Iconic SUV now features many modern design elements, the latest technology, and infotainment features. It offers eight variants with three engine options. Customers also have a choice of three gearboxes. We drove the Tata Sierra, and here’s how it performs on the road.
Tata Sierra Review – Exterior Highlights
The Tata Sierra boasts a striking front design. It features a range of vibrant colours, including a notable black and yellow scheme. The Sierra branding is prominently displayed on the front, with Dynamic daytime running lights (DRLs) extending across its width.
These DRLs also serve as dynamic indicators. A piano black grille houses the front parking camera and radar system for Level 2 ADAS. Sleek booster headlights automatically activate at speeds over 80 km/h. Additionally, Projector fog lights are also included for better visibility.
The side profile showcases piano black body cladding and flush door handles. Customers can select between 17-inch steel wheels or 19-inch diamond-cut alloys. The bonnet design smoothly integrates with the doors. At the rear, the classic glass-like section remains, adapted for the five-door layout without compromising passengers' comfort.

The second row in the Sierra prioritises comfort with adjustable headrests and an armrest. Additionally, it features Manual sun blinds to add privacy, speakers integrated into the B-pillar, and Door handles that extend to the full length of the doors.
The Sierra's large door pockets offer ample storage space. Safety is enhanced with puddle lights and warning lights on each door. The sculpted rear seats feature back pockets. A manual 'boss mode' allows the front passenger seat to be adjusted. Rear seats offer a two-step reclining function.
The cabin includes a panoramic sunroof that spans from front to rear. LED technology is used for interior lighting. The Rear passengers also have access to charging sockets and AC vents. Attachments for individual infotainment screens are made available.
The dashboard in the top variants features a triple-screen layout. This includes a 12.5-inch instrument cluster and a central 12.5-inch infotainment display. A dedicated 10.25-inch screen provides entertainment for the front passenger.
Soft-touch materials adorn the doors and parts of the dashboard. A soundbar with Dolby Atmos delivers a premium 3D surround sound experience. Ventilated seats are available for both front passengers. The driver's seat is electronically adjustable with three memory settings.

The Tata Sierra offers a commanding driving position. A wide windscreen and large side mirrors ensure clear visibility. There are three engine options available for the Sierra. Customers can choose from a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, or a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. There are also three gearbox options: a 6-speed Manual, a 6-speed AT, and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Tata Sierra Review – Driving Impressions – On the Road
We drove the 1.5-litre turbo diesel variant, which delivers robust performance with 118 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque. The car offers good drivability, drawing attention on public roads. The new Sierra advances with modern technology.
The suspension system features frequency-dependent damping, which effectively absorbs road imperfections. The body roll is very minimal and well-contained. The steering offers two different driving modes (City and Sport). Driving in City mode provides a lighter steering feel, while Sport mode offers a heavier feel for better high-speed control and confidence.
The Tata Sierra has achieved a five-star safety rating in Global NCAP crash tests. It also includes Level 2 ADAS, enhancing driver assistance. This system bolsters overall safety during daily drives and highway journeys. Braking performance is robust across all four corners.
