The Tata Harrier, the firm's flagship 5-seater SUV, is now offered with a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. We recently drove the Tata Harrier petrol and here’s our thoughts about how it performs on the road after a few hours in the driver's seat.

Tata Harrier Petrol Review – Exterior Highlights
The Tata Harrier Petrol maintains its bold road presence with a connected LED daytime running lamp setup. The front grille has a brushed aluminium finish, complemented by the Tata logo in chrome. The SUV features 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels for a strong stance.

Functional roof rails and a shark fin antenna add to its modern look. At the rear, stylish wrapped-around tail lights are linked visually by an LED bar. A silver-finished scuff plate adds to the rugged appearance.
Tata Harrier Review – Interior Highlights

Inside, the Harrier Petrol offers the same comfortable and feature-rich cabin (with a white theme) as its diesel siblings. The front seats are ventilated and power-adjustable. The rear has an armrest, though ventilated seats are not available. Wing-designed headrests offer better support.
Power windows and rear AC vents on the B-pillar enhance comfort. Two 65-watt Type-C charging sockets are available. A large panoramic sunroof extends to the rear.

Technological features include a 14-inch Samsung OLED touchscreen and a 10-speaker JBL surround sound system with Dolby Atmos support. The digital rearview mirror features dashcam functionality, recording both front and rear views.
The Harrier boasts a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating with up to seven airbags. Safety systems include ABS with EBD, ESP, Hill Hold Control, and Hill Descent Control. ISOFIX child seat anchors and a 360-degree camera are also present.

The new 1.5-litre GDi turbo-petrol engine was first seen on the new Safari and in the Harrier it produces 168 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. It is available with manual and automatic transmissions. The automatic variant offers a mileage of around 16.8 kmpl in our short time with it.

The Harrier measures 4605 mm in length, 1922 mm in width, and 1718 mm in height. It has a 2741 mm wheelbase and 205 mm ground clearance. Boot space is 445 litres, and the fuel tank holds 50 litres.
Tata Harrier Petrol Review – Driving Impressions – Refined Performance

The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine is refined and offers smooth operation. Power delivery is responsive and consistent, making for an engaging drive. The Harrier has three drive modes: Normal, Sport, and Eco. The steering response varies with the drive mode, stiffening in Sport mode as does the throttle response.
The Harrier Petrol's suspension setup offers a comfortable ride. While going over small bumps the car does feel slightly jittery, but when it comes to bigger ruts and bumps, the Harrier petrol smothers them with ease. The braking is decent with all-wheel disc brakes, but the Harrier petrol is still a heavy car and you do feel its weight

Tata Harrier Review – Verdict & Final Thoughts – A Strong Contender
The Tata Harrier, with its new turbo petrol engine, emerges as a strong contender in a very competitve SUV segment. The Harrier Petrol combines enhanced power and a spacious, tech-rich interior with robust safety features. The petrol engine addresses a gap in the Harrier's lineup.
