Maruti Suzuki Victoris Walkaround: Initial Impressions

The much-awaited Maruti Suzuki Victoris SUV has been unveiled in India. Though prices for the model is yet to be announced, Maruti Suzuki has already opened bookings. This new model will be available through Maruti Suzuki’s Arena dealerships, not Nexa. Key highlights include multiple fuel options—petrol, CNG, and hybrid—and the introduction of an all-wheel-drive variant.

The Victoris is built on the Grand Vitara platform, which means it shares several design elements and features with its sibling. It also comes with a first-in-segment electric boot opening mechanism and offers a spacious interior with a focus on comfort and technology.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Design & Styling

The exterior of the Victoris features LED daytime running lights and LED headlamps. The front also includes fog lamps for better visibility. Along the sides, the car displays robust body cladding and dual-tone alloy wheels. A monotone option is also available. That said, the blacked-out ORVMs and a silhouette reminiscent to the Grand Vitara give it a modern appearance.

At the rear, the Victoris sports a set of wraparound tail lights with connecting LED strip enclosed in glass. The model badge is displayed prominently, and silver roof rails add to its SUV character. The all-wheel-drive variant, called AllGrip, comes with a smart hybrid system and offers four-wheel-drive capability for off-road conditions.

The boot space is deep and practical, with the CNG tanks positioned underneath the floor, freeing up luggage room. However, the spare wheel is not included in the CNG variant due to space constraints. Features at the back include a rear wiper with washer, a spoiler, a high-mounted stop lamp, a shark fin antenna, and a powered tailgate.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Interior & Tech

The interior of the Victoris is designed for comfort and convenience. The dashboard houses a large touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The upholstery is made of quality materials, and both front seats are ventilated for added comfort. The driver’s seat is electrically adjustable in eight ways, while the passenger seat is manually adjustable.

A new digital instrument cluster and a premium Infinity sound system enhance the in-cabin experience. There are tactile buttons for audio and climate controls, a rotary gear selector for the automatic transmission, and touch controls on the steering wheel. Piano black accents and soft-touch materials are used throughout the cabin, and the car also features a heads-up display for vital driving information.

Other highlights include ambient lighting with 64 colour options, a panoramic sunroof, an adjustable armrest with storage, and multiple storage spaces around the cabin, including the doors. The rear seat area provides good legroom and knee room, though headroom is slightly limited due to the panoramic sunroof design.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Engine Options

The Victoris is offered with three powertrain choices: petrol, CNG, and hybrid. The hybrid and petrol options are available with automatic transmissions, including a torque converter gearbox. The AllGrip variant features all-wheel drive for added traction and off-road capability. The CNG model has its tanks placed beneath the boot, preserving usable luggage space. Though detailed engine specifications and power figures are yet to be announced by Maruti Suzuki, expect it to mirror the Grand Vitara.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Safety

On the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, safety is given utmost priority with standard safety tech such as 6 airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, ABS, ESP, TC, and more. Additional safety features comprise an electric parking brake with auto hold, and ADAS tech.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Availability & Rivals

The Victoris will be sold through Arena dealerships across India. Deliveries are expected to commence soon after the price announcement. The model will compete with other midsize SUVs in India, such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Tata Harrier.
