Maruti Suzuki e Vitara First Look Review: A New King Awaits

At Auto Expo 2025, Maruti Suzuki, the nation's largest carmaker, revealed its first-ever EV in the form of the e Vitara. The electric Maruti Suzuki e Vitara SUV is the production-spec version of the Maruti Suzuki EVX concept we saw at Auto Expo 2023.

And while this may not be the first time that Suzuki has shown off the e Vitara - the SUV surprisingly debuted at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan last November - Auto Expo 2025 did mark the first time that the Indian public has laid eyes on the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara in the flesh.

So can the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara light up the Indian EV segment and help the nation's carmaker kick the current national EV champ, Tata Motors, off its perch? Let's take a close look at the all-new Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and find the answers...

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara First Look Review - Design - Bucking The Split Trend

Take one look at the new e Vitara and you're transported back to 2023 and the EVX concept from Auto Expo. And while Maruti Suzuki has done a few things to tone down the concepty madness, the e Vitara still looks very similar to the EVX concept, and that's a good thing in our eyes.

The reason for our positivity is the fact that the new Maruti Suzuki e Vitara hasn't gone down the split headlamp design most carmakers seem to have adopted over the past few years.

At the front, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara sports polyhedral LED headlights with integrated 3-point daytime running lights. Combined with the chrome strips joining the lights to the Suzuki badge, the e Vitara looks futuristic.

The bonnet of the e Vitara is sculpted and flares up at the sides while the lower section of the bumper plays host to the fog lamps and adaptive shutters that open and close as needed.

At the sides of the E Vitara, the flared-up wheelarches add to the muscular look of the first-ever Maruti Suzuki EV and play host to 18-inch aerodynamically sculpted alloy wheels. Owners will be able to opt for a dual-tone roof which ends with a sculpted spoiler element that houses the third brake light.

Speaking of the rear lights, the brake lights mirror the shape of the DRLs at the front end of the SUV and are connected to the Suzuki badge at the centre by chrome strips. The e Vitara also sports an underbody cover to help the SUV cut through the air.

The e Vitara is offered in six single-tone colour options - Nexa Blue, Opulent Red, Bluish Black, Arctic White, Granduer Grey and Splendid Silver. There are also four dual-tone options on offer with the new Maruti Suzuki e Vitara - Arctiv White with Bluish Black Roof, Land Breeze Green with Bluish Black Roof, Splendid Silver with Bluish Black Roof and Opulent Red with Bluish Black Roof.

Overall, the exterior design of the e Vitara gives it a very distinct and muscular two-box look. It doesn't follow the split lighting trend we've seen on many new electric cars from other manufacturers which means that you won't mistake it for any other electric SUV on the road.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara First Look Review - A Premium Affair

Step inside the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and you'll find yourself in a cabin, unlike anything we've ever seen before from the manufacturer. The dashboard is a multi-layered unit with a section in faux tan leather which stretches from one door to the other and hosts the vertical aircon vents.

Above the dash sits a single pane of glass behind which sits the 10.25-inch digital instrument display and the 10.1-inch infotainment screen connected to an Infinity audio system from Harman. Also seen is a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel.

The central console is a floating unit with buttons to change the drive modes and snow mode, the electric parking brake, a wireless phone charger and cupholders. Also seen underneath the floating console is the 12V charger along with USB ports for the same and a passthrough section that can be used as a parcel shelf.

Other highlights include dual-tone cloth and leatherette upholstery for the seats. The front seats are ventilated with the driver's seat offering 10-way power adjustment while the ones at the rear (with a 40-20-40 split) can slide and recline as well. Add in a 2,700mm long wheelbase (60mm more than the ICE Grand Vitara) and we expect the e Vitara's rear seats to offer oodles of space for even those of the taller variety.

The e Vitara interior also features a large fixed sunroof, a PM 2.5 air filter and ambient lighting. The Suzuki Connect app also adds a few extra features like remote operations, vehicle health checks, scheduled charging and a navigation app for trip planning.

In terms of active safety features, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara features Level 2 ADAS systems like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive High Beam System, Blind Spot Monitoring among others. The e Vitara also comes packed with a host of passive safety features like 7 airbags, Wheel Disc Brakes, an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Brake Hold, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, a 360-degree camera and an Emergency Call with an SOS button.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara looks to be packed to the gills with tech and features which will make it quite the appealing offering for those looking for a feature-packed electric SUV.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara First Look Review - Specs, Battery & Performance

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara measures 4,275mm long, 1,800mm and 1,635mm tall and features a 2,700m long wheelbase. The e Vitara offers 180mm of ground clearance and weighs between 1.7 to 1.9 tonnes, depending on the battery pack.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be offered with two battery packs - 49kWh and 61kWh. The former is only offered as a front-wheel-drive option with a single electric motor producing 142bhp and 192Nm.

The larger battery pack is offered in both 2WD and 4WD options. The 2WD variant pushes out 172bhp and 192Nm while the dual-motor 4WD drive option kicks out 181bhp and 300Nm.

Maruti Suzuki also claims that e Vitara will deliver a range of over 500km on a single charge though we do think this figure will be for the 2WD 61Kwh variant. How this translates into real life is something we will be able to answer only after we get to drive the new e Vitara, which will hopefully happen in a few weeks time.

Thoughts About The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is the first-ever EV from the nation's largest carmaker. If it is anything like their other offerings, we expect the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara to be a runaway success and a game-changer for the electric car market in India.
