Ford Figo Aspire Vs Maruti Swift Dzire: Aspiration Or Desire?
The top selling car in the Indian market is a compact sedan—the Swift Dzire. It was launched initially in 2008, but did not appeal to many.
Later in 2012, the second generation Dzire kicked off the compact sedan segment in India and many followed it in hot pursuit, which also made carmakers design cars specially for the Indian market like the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Zest.
The newest entry to this segment however is the Ford Figo Aspire, the first sub-4 meter sedan in India from Ford.
So how does it fare when compared to the Swift Dzire in terms of pricing, design, engine specification, features and safety? Here's a detailed look at the two:

Mileage:
This is an area of concern for many Indian customers. The Figo Aspire delivers 18.2 kpl with the petrol engine and 25.8 kpl for the diesel engine. The Dzire returns a fuel efficiency of 20.85 with the petrol engine while the diesel engine delivers 26.59 kpl.
Safety:
This is another criteria which is of growing concern in India. Improved safety features are increasingly becoming a standardised feature in the country. The Figo Aspire comes with standard dual airbags for the front, while the top end version gets six airbags, including side and curtain airbags. This is one important feature the Dzire misses out on aside from the top end variant, which gets two airbags.
Verdict:
Ford has surely got the right product for India with the Aspire's performance, safety, features, and most importantly, the pricing. What gives the Dzire an edge over the Aspire is Maruti's service network which is found in every nook and corner. It comes down to whether you wish to aspire towards value for money or desire ease of service.
