2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review - A Reborn Desire
The year was 2008, and Maruti Suzuki, the nation's largest carmaker decided to capitalize on the growing sedan craze in India by bringing out a sub-4-metre saloon based on the Swift hatchback. The car launched was the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, a car that in the 16 years since it was launched has become the best-selling sedan of all time in the Indian car market.
Over the years, the Dzire has undergone quite a few transformations, losing the Swift nameplate while also getting updates that have ensured that it has kept its numbers up on the sales charts despite the current SUV craze.

Now, the fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire has made its way onto our roads with a starting price tag of Rs 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom) and at first glance it sure looks like a revolution is here. We got behind the wheel of the new 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire to find out if the changes are more than just skin deep.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review: Design & Features - A Revolution Is Here

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has always based its looks on the Swift hatchback. That was until the covers were ripped off the new 2024 Dzire and well the change is there for everyone to see.
Gone are the Swift's curves and instead the new Dzire has one over to a more square-jawed look that seems more Honda Amaze-like. The new Dzire is in your face with its boxy looks and from the front, we think that Maruti Suzuki has done quite a brilliant job at giving the most popular sedan in India its own proper identity.

That front end is more late 2010 Audi-like with a near vertical front end with wraparound LED headlights flanking a large hexagonal grille. The top section of the grille features a piano black insert that along with a chrome strip that runs under it connects the Suzuki badge with the headlights.
Speaking of the headlights, these units feature integrated LED DRLs and an angular lower section that houses the halogen turn signals. The headlights themselves consist of six individual crystal units that act as the low and high beams for the new Maruti Dzire's lighting setup and give the car a more premium look.

The Dzire also features a brand-new front bumper which features housings for the foglights along with a new bonnet that looks most flat before dipping slightly and flowing into the fenders and the bonnet.
Take a look at the 2024 Maruti Dzire from the sides and your eyes are drawn to the new dual-tone 15-inch alloy wheels and the contoured door panels and fenders. The roofline also looks a lot more cohesive and flows into the rear of the Dzire a lot better than before. This also means that the boot doesn't look like an afterthought anymore.

Speaking of the boot, the rear end of the new Dzire features a spoiler element that sits atop the boot lid of the compact sedan. The fourth-gen Dzire features squared-off LED taillights with triangular inserts that are connected by a strip of chrome above which sits the Dzire and Suzuki badging.
Step inside the Dzire and the connection to the new Swift is reestablished immediately. However, Maruti Suzuki has given the Dzire's interiors a dual-tone beige (top section, dash and seats) and black (dash, door cards and lower sections) scheme to differentiate it from the Swift. The dashboard, it is a multi-layered array of surfaces with faux wood and brushed aluminium elements that draw attention to the front of the car.

Sitting atop the dashboard is a large 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity that is also connected to an Arkayms-powered sound system. The infotainment screen also acts as a display for the 360-degree camera and allows access to the Suzuki Connect connected apps suite. The display is smooth and responsive and the menus are easy to use.
The new Dzire's cabin comes packed with features like an automatic climate control system with rear AC vents, multiple USB ports, a wireless phone charger and for the very first time in this segment, an electric single-pane sunroof.

The seats on the Dzire continue to feature cloth upholstery and are quite comfortable for the daily commute. The rear seats on the Dzire are wide enough to house three decent-sized adults and offer decent knee and legroom. However, those on the taller side will find the headroom, not up to the mark.
The 382-litre boot allows for quite a bit of luggage to be placed into the new Dzire. However, the struts that hold it up are still a bit too thick for our liking so can be a hindrance if you want to maximise every litre of space on offer.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire comes packed with a host of safety features as standard that helped it grab a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. Safety features on the Dzire include six airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist, three-point seat belts for every seat and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review: Specs & Powerplant - More Of The Same With Z Power

The new 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire measures 3,995mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,525mm tall. The new Dzire is only 10mm taller than its predecessor and features a 2,450mm long wheelbase. The brand-new fourth-generation Maruti Dzire offers 163mm of ground clearance and rides on 15-inch wheels that come shod with 185-section tyres.
The Dzire sports the same Z12E engine that was first seen on the new Swift and in the new sedan, it continues to push out 80.46bhp and 111.7Nm of peak torque when drinking petrol and 68.8bhp and 101.8Nm of torque when running on CNG.

The petrol Dzire is offered with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options while the CNG variant is only available with the manual transmission option. The petrol manual version of the Dzire returns a mileage of 24.79 km/l and 25.71 km/l in AMT guise. The CNG variant offers a mileage of 33.73 km/kg.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review: Driving Impressions - The Everyday Sedan

The engine response still feels linear (the joys of NA engine no matter the size) and there is enough grunt across the powerband for drivers to enjoy. The AMT gearbox fitted to our test car felt a bit laggy when shifting which made us wish for either paddle shifters or the actual manual variant for a bit more control.

The steering is light and allows the Dzire to change direction with ease. The Dzire's suspension setup feels quite well-balanced and it takes care of the rough stuff with ease and manages to keep the body roll under control if you get a bit too enthusiastic with the new sedan in the corners.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Review: Verdict & Final Thoughts - A Reborn Desire

The new 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire has undergone a proper makeover in terms of its looks and adds quite a few features that ensure that it will keep on beating the competition handily. The new Dzire offers a brand new design, a new, frugal yet peppy engine and features galore for the segment, which makes it an easy car to recommend in our book.
