KTM 1290 Super Duke R Patriot Edition
KTM, at an event at its Mattighofen, Austria headquarters, held specially for its dealers and also the press, announced that the production version of the most powerful bike in the Duke lineup, the 1290 Super Duke, will be revealed at the 2013 EICMA. The bike will be ready to hit dealerships in December. Before the launch, in autumn, international journalists will be given an opertunity to ride the 1290 Super Duke in Spain.
Present at the event was a delegation of KTM dealers from the United States, who were treated with a one off, 1290 Super Duke R Patriot Edition. As you may see in the gallery below, the Patriot Edition looks like a near production 1290 Super Duke. The crazy over the top (in a good way) orange paint job has instead been replaced by ‘stars and stripes' of the US flag.
KTM 1290 Super Duke was revealed to the world as a prototype model at last year's EICMA. The 1290cc engine powered 'beast' will be the most powerful naked KTM offered by the brand. Expect the bike to get a simultaneous global launch, that will include India. Also expect the 1290 Super Duke to be priced in the region of INR 15 lakhs. That is, if Bajaj and KTM do not pull off another surprise like it did with the 390 Duke.
