New Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 And YZF-R3 India Launch Details Revealed
Yamaha is all set to introduce the new YZF-R15 V3.0 and YZF-R3 in the Indian market.
Yamaha Motor India is all set to introduce the new YZF-R15 V3.0 and the recently unveiled YZF-R3 in the country.
Now, TOI reports that Yamaha is planning to launch the new YZF-R15 V3.0 at or before the 2018 Auto Expo. Yamaha will also showcase the YZF-R3 at the auto show which will be introduced in India with ABS for the very first time.
The new YZF-R15 V3.0 has been already spotted testing on the Indian roads and Yamaha has revealed that the testing of the motorcycle is about to complete testing which indicates that the launch is nearing. The third-gen R15 has been already launched in foreign markets such as Thailand.
The India-spec R15 V3.0 will miss out on some premium components to keep the price in check. Conventional telescopic forks will replace the upside down forks and the motorcycle will be shod with MRF tyres as opposed to the IRC Road Winner.

On the design front, the R15 V3.0 borrows its design cues from its bigger sibling the YZF-R1. The twin-LED headlamp setup is sharp and the fairing design has been tweaked. The centre air duct between the headlamps renders an aggressive look to the motorcycle.
The Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 draws power from an all-new 155cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 19bhp and 14.7Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch for smooth downshifting. The motorcycle misses out on ABS.
Yamaha has discontinued the YZF-R3 in India after the BS-IV emission norms were implemented. Now, the 300cc faired motorcycle is all set to make a comeback in the BS-IV avatar with subtle cosmetic changes.
The YZF-R3 continues to draw power from the same 321cc parallel twin engine producing 41bhp and 29.6Nm of torque. The rest of the components remains the same except for the ABS which will be offered for the first time. The motorcycle also gets three new colour options.
DriveSpark Thinks!
Yamaha is finally updating the R15 and R3 in the Indian market. The new YZF-R15 V3.0 will be an all-new motorcycle with the new engine, whereas the YZF-R3 will be a minor update. Yamaha is betting high on the R15 as there is no competition in the segment. But the R3 will face fierce competition from the likes of KTM RC390, Benelli 302R. Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the upcoming TVS Apache RR 310S.
