Hero Xtreme 200S India Debut Date Revealed

HeroMotoCorp is a dominant player in the commuter motorcycle segment with products such as Splendor and Passion. But when it comes to performance motorcycle there is nothing to write home about. But now it looks like Hero has understood the market which is leaning towards performance motorcycles.

The Xtreme 200S was first showcased in its concept form at the 2016 Auto Expo, and the production version of the motorcycle will be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in February 2018.

Currently, Hero MotoCorp is targeting the premium and performance motorcycle segment with the introduction of the Xtreme 200S. Apart from the naked motorcycle, Hero will also introduce the fully faired HX250 and a higher capacity model based on the XF3R concept.

Talking about the Xtreme 200S, it is a naked streetfighter based on the diamond-type frame and draws power from an all-new 200cc air-cooled, single cylinder engine producing 18.2bhp and 17.2Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

On the design front, the Xtreme 200S is sharper and aggressive compared to its 150cc sibling. It gets a muscular fuel tank, bikini fairing and LED DRLs. The stepped-up seat, analog-digital instrument cluster and sharp tail section with LED tail light add to the premium look of the motorcycle.

The Hero Xtreme 200S is equipped with telescopic forks up front and monoshock suspension setup at the rear. Braking duties are handled by discs at both the ends. Hero MotoCorp is expected to offer ABS at least as an option.

The Xtreme 200S is said to be a crucial product for Hero MotoCorp as it is looking to cement its position in the premium performance motorcycle segment in India. The 200cc naked motorcycle will go on sale in the country by March 2018. Expect the Xtreme 200S to carry a price tag of around Rs 90,000 to Rs 1.1 lakh ex-showroom for the ABS variant. The Hero Xtreme 200S will lock horns with the likes of Bajaj Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and Yamaha FZ25.
