Volkswagen Taigun Facelift To Debut In April 2026 – Big Upgrades Expected
One of the most driver-friendly SUVs in India, the Volkswagen Taigun is all set to receive its first major update in April 2026. The mid-size German SUV will debut its facelift with a refreshed design and several key upgrades.
Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Launching This April 2026
The Volkswagen Taigun was first introduced in 2021 as a compact SUV. Over the years, Volkswagen kept this SUV updated with several new editions and minor cosmetic upgrades. After nearly five years in the market, it is now set to receive its first major facelift, which could include updates to its design, features, interior, and mechanicals.

Its Czech sibling, the Skoda Kushaq facelift, was recently updated with several new features and upgrades. Most of these updates are likely to be carried over to the upcoming VW Taigun facelift. Over the past few months, the Taigun facelift has been spotted multiple times, with the most noticeable changes seen at the front and rear.
It could feature new LED headlamps, a larger air dam, connected LED DRLs with an illuminated VW logo, and updated styling elements. At the rear, it may retain the connected LED tail lamps along with an illuminated VW logo.

The overall silhouette is expected to remain unchanged, although the alloy wheel design could be updated. One of the biggest updates could be the addition of an 8-speed torque converter gearbox, replacing the existing 6-speed automatic in the 1.0L TSI model. This change could improve efficiency, smoothness, and overall driving comfort.
Inside, the SUV may receive upgrades such as a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Google integration, a new digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a VW-powered audio system, ventilated and powered front seats, a rear seat massage function, and a revised interior theme.

Additionally, we also expect features such as a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS safety systems, which were not introduced in the Kushaq facelift. These additions could help differentiate the Taigun from its Skoda sibling and make it feel more appealing and premium for buyers.
The 1.0L TSI engine, producing 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque, is paired with a 6-speed manual and a new 8-speed torque converter automatic. The 1.5L TSI engine, producing 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox, is also expected to be retained.

Apart from this, a sporty GT variant with the 1.5L TSI engine and all-wheel disc brakes could also be introduced alongside the facelift. We would also like to see the return of the Curcuma Yellow colour, which was discontinued in the current model.
Since the Skoda Kushaq facelift is expected to be priced from around ₹10.69 lakh (ex-showroom), the Volkswagen Taigun facelift could carry a slightly premium price tag, starting at approximately ₹11.50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra, and the recently launched Renault Duster.
