Renault Bridger Concept Revealed – 5 Things That Make This New Sub-4m SUV Exciting
Renault has unveiled the Bridger Concept globally, and this sub-4-metre SUV has been specifically designed for markets like India. The compact crossover will be positioned between the entry-level Kiger and the mid-size Duster SUV. Here are the key things that excite us the most about this new concept.
Renault Bridger Concept- Top 5 Things
1. Rugged and Boxy Design
After many years, Renault is preparing to introduce a new sub-4-metre SUV for the Indian market. The Bridger name is likely to be retained for the production version as well. The concept features a boxy silhouette with a tall, upright stance and slim LED Renault lettering integrated into the grille.

One of the biggest highlights is the externally mounted spare wheel on the tailgate, which gives the SUV a rugged and aggressive appearance. Other design elements include a large silver skid plate, large wheel arches, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a thick, muscular bumper.
2. Built on R-GMP Platform
The Bridger Concept will be based on the Renault Group Modular Platform (R-GMP), which will also underpin the new Renault Duster. This architecture is designed to support multiple powertrain options, including internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, and fully electric powertrains.

3. Powertrain Expectations
The production model is expected to share the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine currently offered in the Kiger, which produces around 100 hp. Renault may also introduce a new 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine alongside this model. In the future, the platform could also support mild-hybrid and electric powertrain options, depending on market demand and regulations.
4. Superior Space and Comfort
Thanks to the R-GMP platform, the Bridger is expected to offer excellent interior space and passenger comfort. Renault claims the SUV could provide class-leading 200 mm of knee room, while the boot capacity is expected to be around 400 litres, which is also among the best in its segment.

The seats are positioned slightly higher, giving occupants a commanding driving position and a true SUV-like feel. Sub-4-metre SUVs typically offer less interior space compared to compact SUVs. However, this concept is claimed to provide improved cabin room and practicality.
5. Made-in-India Product
The Renault Bridger will be manufactured in India at the brand's Chennai facility. Renault already produces models such as the Kiger, Triber, and Duster at this plant, and the upcoming Bridger will also be built here. The new SUV is expected to debut around 2027 and will likely be exported to several international markets as well.
