Nissan Tekton Teased Again Ahead Of July 9 Debut: Shows Patrol-Inspired Front
Japanese carmaker Nissan has released a new teaser video of the Tekton, its upcoming midsize SUV, ahead of the model's reveal on July 9 in MUmbai. The clip focuses on the upcoming SUV's front end and follows earlier teasers, with the Tekton set to mark Nissan's return to the segment after the Kicks was discontinued in 2023..
The teaser video for the Nissan Tekton shows a massive front grille split by a wide red horizontal bar with an illuminated badge at its centre, along with full-width LED DRLs that extend into L-shaped LED headlamps. A hood scoop sits between muscular bonnet haunches, flanked by large 'TEKTON' lettering.
Nissan has also shown the Tekton next to its Patrol flagship SUV in the same video, calling the upcoming model the "baby Patrol" and drawing a direct line between the two design languages.
Nissan Tekton: Design & Features
Previous teasers have already shown Duster-like pull-type door handles up front, with rear units tucked into the C-pillar, along with multi-spoke alloy wheels and a twin-ridge roof spoiler. The tail-lights carry a C-shaped signature, another nod to the Patrol. Squared-off wheel arches and functional roof rails are also expected, with the boxy profile likely to stay close to the Patrol's rugged stance.

Nissan has kept the cabin under wraps so far, but the Tekton is expected to be different from the Duster's layout. Expect dual screens for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats and a rotary gear selector.
A panoramic sunroof, leatherette upholstery, a premium sound system, a 360-degree camera and six airbags with ABS, EBD, ESC and TPMS should also be on offer, alongside Level 2 ADAS.
Nissan Tekton: Engine Options
Power for the Nissan Tekton is expected to come from the same 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol units used on the Duster, developing 100hp and 163hp respectively, with peak torque outputs of 166Nm and 280Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox should be standard on both engines, while a 7-speed DCT automatic is likely reserved for the more powerful 1.3-litre motor, since the Duster does not currently offer an automatic with its smaller engine.
Nissan Tekton: Expected price
The new Nissan Tekton is expected to be priced competitively, with a starting figure of around Rs 10 lakh going up to roughly Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). At that range, it will lock horns with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Tata Sierra, among others, in one of the most contested segments in the Indian market.
