Vision4Rescue: A High-Tech Demo-Car Enhancing Emergency Services Coordination
Renault and Software République have introduced vision4rescue, a demonstration vehicle featuring a sophisticated ecosystem designed to enhance emergency services' efficiency in critical situations. This ecosystem includes nearly 20 interconnected solutions aimed at standardising various technologies used by emergency responders, ensuring quicker and more coordinated actions. Developed from the Renault R4 E-Tech electric model, this demo-car addresses the modern needs of emergency services.
The vision4rescue vehicle serves as a mobile command centre, equipped with innovative tools like a surveillance drone and specialised storage compartments for equipment. It can assess situations and adjust emergency responses in real-time. The design incorporates both functionality and aesthetics, with features such as a raised body style and all-wheel drive for diverse terrains.
Software République, comprising seven French companies, developed the high-tech ecosystem for vision4rescue. This collaboration focuses on smart, secure, and sustainable mobility solutions. The demo-car was created in partnership with three fire services, leveraging Renault's extensive experience with fire services across 19 countries over 15 years.
The exterior of vision4rescue is styled for action, featuring sharp contrasts between matte and glossy materials. Its Combustion Red bodywork is inspired by fire colours, accented with fluorescent yellow-green lines to signify urgency. The design also includes elements like slate-grey chevron patterns on the bonnet and roof, reflecting technical design influences.
The vehicle's unique appearance is further enhanced by graphic codes from rescue services. Words like "RESCUE" and "SAPEURS POMPIERS" are prominently displayed on the side panels, while emergency numbers 112 and 18 are visible on the rear quarter panels. These elements not only serve decorative purposes but also highlight the vehicle's mission.
Vision4rescue's robust style is underlined by its light signature, featuring round LED headlamps and an illuminated rectangular grille. The front and rear bumpers include contrasting yellow and red inserts, along with tow rings and additional lights for heavy-duty operations. The conventional bumper stops are replaced by 3D-printed parts with shock-absorbing properties.
Interior Designed for Firefighters
The interior of vision4rescue was meticulously crafted in collaboration with fire services to ensure safety and functionality. A reflective strip on the rear door crosspiece signals open doors in low-visibility environments. The dashboard incorporates firefighting elements, including a polished metal bar engraved with "Je te reçois 4 sur 4" (Reading you loud and clear) that doubles as a grab handle.
The seats feature upholstery made from recycled materials, including foam from firefighting suits that are already fire-resistant. This aligns with Renault's commitment to sustainability seen in their use of recycled materials in other models like the Renault 4 E-Tech electric.
A Mobile Command Centre
The tailgate opens to reveal a split boot; the upper section transforms into an office space with a sliding desktop and screens connected to a powerful computer. This setup allows control of the observation drone and communication with ground teams via roof-mounted antennas. The lower section houses storage boxes for essential firefighting gear.
Renault's vision4rescue utilises its genetic makeup from the Renault 4 E-Tech electric model to offer practical features like a low load sill and flat boot floor for easy equipment access. The long tailgate provides shelter during operations at this mobile command centre.
Renault has been at the forefront of mobility innovation in Europe, focusing on electric vehicles through its 'Renaulution' strategic plan aimed at creating a competitive electrified range. Software République fosters intelligent mobility solutions through collaboration among established companies and start-ups across various sectors.
