Tata Sierra Launch Next Month: Top 5 Things You Need To Know
Tata Motors is set to bring back one of its most iconic SUVs - the Sierra. Decades after the original captured the imagination of Indian car enthusiasts, the 2025 Tata Sierra is all set to make a comeback in an all-new avatar next month.
Built on an advanced platform, the upcoming SUV will feature modern design, cutting-edge tech, and multiple powertrain options. Here are five key things you should know about the new Tata Sierra.

1. Expected Price & Positioning
The new Tata Sierra is expected to be priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). This would position it neatly between Tata's upcoming Curvv (Rs 9.66 - Rs 18.85 lakh) and the larger Harrier (Rs 14 - Rs 25.25 lakh).
This price band puts the Sierra squarely in the mid-size SUV segment, where it will cater to buyers looking for a premium, feature-rich SUV without entering the higher Harrier-Safari bracket.
2. Engine & Powertrain Options
The new Sierra will offer a wide range of powertrains to suit different buyers - including electric, petrol, and diesel options.
Under the hood, Tata is expected to offer three 1.5-litre ICE engines: Naturally aspirated petrol, Direct-injection turbo-petrol (TGDi), and Turbo diesel engine.
Interestingly, the turbo-petrol TGDi motor is expected to later power the Harrier and Safari as well. There are also talks that Stellantis might adopt this engine for the Jeep Compass and Meridian, given its efficiency and performance credentials.
Tata has also confirmed that the Sierra EV will debut before the ICE versions, as revealed in the company's November 2024 investor presentation.
3. Exterior Design & Styling
The 2025 Sierra beautifully balances heritage and modernity. It retains signature cues from the original Sierra - such as the distinctive curved rear side glass panels, squared wheel arches, and high-set bonnet - while adopting contemporary design elements from Tata's latest SUV lineup.
The split-headlamp setup and slimmer DRLs bring it in line with newer Tata models. Proportionally, the SUV features a sharper roofline, shorter overhangs, and a slab-sided stance, giving it a bolder, more planted look.
While the old Sierra rode on chunky 15-inch wheels, the 2025 model steps up to stylish 19-inch alloy wheels, enhancing its road presence significantly.
4. Interior, Technology, & Features
Spy images of the upcoming Sierra's cabin reveal a high-tech interior that shares several elements with Tata's latest EV lineup. The SUV is expected to feature a three-screen layout - including a digital instrument cluster, central touchscreen, and a passenger-side display - each measuring roughly 12.3 inches.
The dual-tone dashboard design adds elegance, complemented by the Harrier EV-like four-spoke steering wheel featuring an illuminated Tata logo. Expect ambient lighting, a Harman sound system, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging among the premium comfort features.
On the safety front, the Sierra is likely to get six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), 360-degree cameras, and Level 2 ADAS, making it one of the safest and most technologically advanced SUVs in its segment.
5. Rivals & Segment Positioning
At around 4.3 metres in length, the Sierra will sit close to the Tata Curvv and go up against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate.
It will also rival Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Citroën C3 Aircross, MG Astor, and the upcoming Maruti Victors.
