Jo Shimoda Achieves Second Overall Win Of The Season At Washougal MX Championship
Honda HRC Progressive showcased strong performances at the Washougal MX Park in Washington State during the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Jo Shimoda secured his second overall win of the season in the 250 class with consistent 2-1 finishes. In the 450 class, Jett Lawrence achieved a commendable second place overall, while Hunter Lawrence finished fourth.
Jett Lawrence began the first 450 moto well, running second initially but dropped to third after a minor mishap. Hunter Lawrence improved from eighth to fifth by the end of the race. In the second moto, Hunter took an impressive holeshot, with Jett close behind. Jett eventually led and maintained his position to finish first, securing second overall for the event.
Jo Shimoda had a remarkable performance in the 250 class. After starting seventh in moto one, he quickly moved up to finish second. In moto two, he took an early lead and maintained it to win by over 18 seconds, marking his fifth career victory.
The Washougal track presented challenges due to its narrow layout and shadowy conditions. Despite these difficulties, Honda riders demonstrated resilience and skill. Jett Lawrence remarked on the challenge of racing at Washougal: "This has always been one of my tougher tracks... I’m still happy with second overall."
Hunter Lawrence also commented on his experience: "Another top-five overall—fourth on the day... The visibility was really tough today." Despite these challenges, both brothers maintained their strong standings in the championship.

Before the races, Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, and Jo Shimoda participated in media-day activities at Washougal. They engaged with journalists and fans through interviews and riding sessions. Additionally, Honda HRC Progressive collaborated with journalists Steve Matthes and Jason Thomas for a holeshot contest.
Lars Lindstrom, Team Manager for Honda HRC Progressive, expressed satisfaction with the team's performance: "Overall, this was a really good weekend for the team... I’m super happy for Jo and the team." The team's success is attributed to rider talent and meticulous preparation by technical staff.
Upcoming Races and Championship Standings
The series now takes a two-week break before resuming on August 9 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. With three rounds remaining, Jett Lawrence leads the 450MX title chase by 61 points over Hunter Lawrence. In the 250MX standings, Jo Shimoda holds second place overall.
The Washougal event marked round eight of eleven in this year's championship series. As racing resumes soon, Honda HRC Progressive aims to maintain its momentum into the final stages of competition.
