Discover The People’s Champ Exhibition Celebrating Ken Block's Legacy At Petersen Automotive Museum
The Petersen Automotive Museum has unveiled an exhibit titled "People’s Champ: The Impact of Ken Block" in the Meyer Gallery. This exhibition honours the life and achievements of motorsports icon Ken Block. It features the largest collection of his vehicles, personal items, and memorabilia ever assembled. The display highlights Block's influence as a racer, entrepreneur, and creative visionary across various industries.
Block gained worldwide fame through his viral Gymkhana video series. These videos combined his love for rallying with cinematic elements, captivating millions and setting new standards for automotive content. Beyond racing, Block co-founded DC Shoes, which became a globally recognised action sports brand. He also established Hoonigan, a brand that celebrates speed and rebellion while uniting fans worldwide.
The exhibit includes some of Block's most famous vehicles, such as the 1965 Ford Mustang RTR "Hoonicorn," featured in several Gymkhana videos. Other notable cars include the 2005 Subaru WRX STI from "Gymkhana Practice," the 1977 Ford F-150 "Hoonitruck," inspired by Block's father's truck, and the 2022 Audi S1 E-Tron Quattro "Hoonitron," designed for "Electrikhana."
Visitors can also see the 1994 Ford Escort RS Cosworth WRC "Cossie V2" and the 2022 Porsche 911 SVRSR "Hoonipigasus," built for the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. Additionally, the exhibit features a timeline of key events in Block’s career and life, along with mementos like racing suits and helmets.
The exhibition was created in collaboration with the 43 Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving Block’s legacy by providing mentorship and resources to inspire future generations. Lucy Block, Ken's wife, stated, "This exhibit is a meaningful tribute to Ken's legacy, reflecting his lasting impact and the inspiration he brought to motorsports and car culture."
Terry L. Karges, executive director of the Petersen Automotive Museum, remarked on Block's influence: "Block’s profound influence has ignited the passion of millions. This exhibit is a tribute to his extraordinary legacy." The display will remain open until October 2025.
