Nissan Formula E Team Celebrates Win And Podium Finish At Monaco Double-Header Event

Oliver Rowland of the Nissan Formula E Team had a successful weekend in Monte-Carlo. He won Round 6 of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship on Saturday and secured pole position with a second-place finish in today's E-Prix. These results helped him extend his lead in the Drivers' Championship, while Nissan remains at the top of the Manufacturers' Standings.

During Saturday's race, Rowland started from second place after reaching the final of the duels. He took the lead before halfway, completing his Pit Boost stop on Lap 18. After emerging in third, he used his Attack Mode effectively to secure his third win this season. Meanwhile, teammate Norman Nato began in P18 and finished 14th after gaining four places.

Nissan Formula E Team Triumphs in Monaco

Today's event was challenging due to wet conditions. Rowland advanced through to the duels and claimed his first pole position of the season. Despite dropping to second as others used their Attack Mode, he maintained strong pace and secured a second-place finish. Nato qualified in P15 and finished 13th at his home E-Prix.

Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of Nissan Formula E Team, expressed satisfaction with their performance during Monaco's double-header. "It's special to have such a successful weekend during the first-ever double-header here in Monaco," he said. The team aims to score with both cars at every round as they prepare for their home race in Tokyo.

The upcoming Tokyo E-Prix on May 17-18 will be significant for Nissan as it is their home race. Rowland looks forward to maintaining momentum there, having enjoyed racing on that track last season. Nato hopes to improve his performance after facing challenges this weekend.

Nissan's Commitment to Formula E

Nissan entered Formula E in Season 5 (2018/19) as the first Japanese manufacturer in the series. They committed long-term involvement from Season 7 (2020/21) through Season 12 (2025/26). In April 2022, Nissan acquired full ownership of e.dams race team and announced supplying EV powertrain technology to McLaren Racing for GEN3 era.

In March 2024, ahead of Tokyo E-Prix, Nissan reaffirmed its commitment by signing up for GEN4 era until 2030. This aligns with their Ambition 2030 electrification targets aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050 across operations and product life cycles.

Formula E's Environmental Impact

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship achieved net zero carbon footprint certification from inception in 2020 by investing in climate-protecting projects globally. All-electric cars compete on street circuits promoting sustainable mobility within city centers to combat air pollution and climate change effects.

Nissan races in Formula E to showcase zero-emission electric vehicles' excitement globally while transferring knowledge between racetrack and road for better customer offerings.
