Mazda Foundation (USA) Awards Over $510,000 In Grants For Hunger Relief And Workforce Development Initiatives
The Mazda Foundation (USA), Inc. has allocated over $510,000 in grants to support initiatives focused on hunger relief, STEM education, and workforce development in underserved U.S. communities. This funding aims to broaden the foundation's impact across the country by supporting seven programs that address food insecurity and promote equitable access to education and job opportunities.
According to Tamara Mlynarczyk, manager of public affairs for Mazda North American Operations and president of the Mazda Foundation (USA), Inc., "The grants we're announcing today reaffirm our commitment to the highly successful partnerships we've built over the past five years." These collaborations enable Mazda employees to volunteer their time and expertise, reflecting a core company value.

This year, the foundation is extending its reach by launching new programs in Chicago, New York, and Houston. Existing initiatives will continue in Southern California, Huntsville, AL, and Baltimore, MD. The focus remains on providing STEM education and workforce development opportunities for underserved high school students and young adults.
In Orange County, CA, efforts to enhance food security persist with continued support for Second Harvest Food Bank. This marks the 20th consecutive year of collaboration between the foundation and the food bank. Such long-term partnerships are crucial in addressing ongoing community needs.
The foundation supports various educational programs including College Track L.A.'s holistic educational and job mentoring initiative in Los Angeles. Additionally, FUSE Studios' STEM labs receive ongoing funding for nine schools in Southern California with plans to launch 16 more programs in Greater Chicago and Greater Huntsville over two years.
High school students in Huntsville can form robotics teams through funding from the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation. Meanwhile, AVID programming will be supported for two years across five schools in Brooklyn, NY, and Harris County, TX.
Workforce Development Efforts
Workforce development is another key area of focus. The culinary training program at Bracken's Kitchen in Garden Grove, CA receives funding for its fourth year. Additionally, Vehicles for Change's Full Circle automotive technician training program for formerly incarcerated individuals continues with financial backing in Halethorpe, MD.
The Mazda Foundation has been active since 1992 as part of Mazda North American Operations (MNAO). Over this period, it has contributed more than $16 million to various causes including children's organizations, educational scholarships, food banks, environmental initiatives, and disaster relief efforts.
The foundation's ongoing commitment to these causes highlights its dedication to fostering positive change within communities across the United States. By supporting diverse programs that address critical issues like hunger relief and education access, it aims to make a lasting impact on society.
