Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Secures MotorWeek's 2025 Drivers' Choice Award For Best Performance Car
Hyundai's IONIQ 5 N electric SUV has been awarded MotorWeek’s 2025 Drivers’ Choice for Best Performance Car. This accolade was presented at the Chicago Auto Show. The vehicle impressed with its Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and N motorsport technologies, distinguishing itself among other finalists in its category.
The IONIQ 5 N is celebrated for its high performance and innovative features like the N Drift Optimizer and N e-Shift. These technologies contribute to a fun driving experience. The car's engaging performance is enhanced by these unique features, making it a standout choice for enthusiasts.

MotorWeek’s evaluation process includes assessing reliability, value, and consumer trends alongside driving impressions. Ricky Lao, director of product planning at Hyundai Motor North America, stated, "MotorWeek’s 2025 Drivers’ Choice award recognition for Best Performance Car is proof that the IONIQ 5 N is a special vehicle that doesn’t just stack up well against other high-performance EVs, it competes – and wins – against all kinds of enthusiast machines."
John Davis, host and creator of MotorWeek, noted that the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N was their unanimous choice for Best Performance Car of the Year.
