Gordon Murray Group Unveils First Two Supercars From Special Vehicles Division At Monterey Car Week
The Gordon Murray Group (GMG) is set to unveil its first two models from the new Special Vehicles division on 15 August at The Quail during Monterey Car Week. These supercars, one a bespoke customer commission and the other designed by the Gordon Murray Special Vehicles (GMSV) team, will debut in California. Details remain confidential until the event.
As the production of all 100 T.50 supercars concludes by July's end, GMG prepares for a significant milestone. This exclusive model, built at Highams Park headquarters, has been acquired by owners across 19 countries. The T.50 epitomises the brand's commitment to "Driving Perfection."
In July, GMG will celebrate 60 years of car design by founder Professor Gordon Murray CBE at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The event will showcase a complete lineup of Gordon Murray Automotive models, including T.50, T.50s Niki Lauda, and T.33 prototypes alongside iconic designs from Murray's career.
Professor Gordon Murray expressed his excitement about reminiscing with fans at Goodwood and introducing new GMSV models in August. "I can barely believe it’s been 60 years I’ve been designing and engineering race and road cars," he said.
The Goodwood Festival will feature several notable vehicles from Murray's illustrious career. Among them are the 1967 IGM Ford (T.1), 1972 Duckhams LM (T.3), and the revolutionary 1978 Brabham BT46B 'Fan Car' (T.9). Each model highlights key innovations in automotive design.
The McLaren F1 XP3 (T.22), known for its record-breaking speed, will also be part of the celebration. This model was the world's first all-carbon fibre road car with ground-effect aerodynamics.
Gordon Murray's Legacy
Professor Gordon Murray's contributions to motorsport and automotive sectors span over five decades. His work includes championship-winning designs for Brabham and McLaren Racing teams, as well as groundbreaking projects like the McLaren F1 road car.
Murray established Gordon Murray Design in 2007, which became a leader in automotive innovation with capabilities in design, prototyping, and development.
