Top 3 Upcoming Compact SUVs In India: Electrifying Trends
The compact SUV market in India is highly competitive, and new models are set to intensify the competition. While the Punch EV leads the electric segment, the Brezza and Nexon remain popular among internal combustion engine vehicles. However, these models will soon face stiff competition from new entrants.
Hyundai Inster
The Hyundai Inster is slated to be Hyundai's third electric vehicle in India, launching in 2026. It will be their most affordable EV offering, featuring a 280-litre trunk space and two 10.25-inch digital displays for entertainment and driver gauges.

The Inster will offer wireless charging, a 64-colour ambient lighting setup, a one-touch sunroof, and Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch functionality. It will come with two battery pack options: a base version with a 42 kWh battery producing 95 horsepower and a long-range variant with a 49 kWh battery delivering 113 horsepower and up to 355 km range per charge.
Kia Clavis
Kia is preparing to launch the Clavis SUV later this year. The model has been spotted undergoing secret tests on Indian roads multiple times. The Clavis will be slightly longer than four metres and positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia's lineup.

The Kia Clavis will feature only internal combustion engines, with two variants expected. The first variant includes a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine generating 118bhp and 172Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed iMT or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The second variant is a 1.5-litre diesel engine linked to a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed torque converter. There might also be a naturally aspirated option sourced from either the Sonet or Seltos.

Skoda's New Compact SUV
Skoda is set to introduce a new compact SUV based on the Kushaq platform. This model will compete against the Nexon and Brezza, which have dominated this segment. Recently released sketches reveal sharp LEDs at the front, taillights similar to those on the Kushaq, and roof rails.
Spy shots suggest that Skoda's new SUV may feature split headlights with DRLs on top. It will use a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine capable of producing 113 bhp and 172 Nm of torque, available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a torque converter. Skoda aims to increase production capacity to sell one lakh units within a year of its launch, surpassing what the Kushaq and Slavia achieved in two years.
