Hyundai Canada Celebrates Katherine Mior And Joyce Tshiamala As Canada's Most Powerful Women At WXN Awards

Hyundai Canada recently celebrated the achievements of Katherine Mior and Joyce Tshiamala at the 22nd annual Women’s Executive Network (WXN) Top 100 Awards Gala. Both women were recognised among Canada's Most Powerful Women for their dedication and hard work. Mior received the Amex Emerging Leaders award, which honours women aged 30 to 40 who are poised for leadership roles and demonstrate a passion for innovation.

Mior plays a crucial role in promoting diversity within Hyundai Auto Canada (HAC). She leads initiatives to make the automotive industry more inclusive for minority groups. Her efforts have helped HAC earn the "Great Place to Work" designation for six consecutive years. Additionally, she co-founded Empowering Auto, a non-profit aimed at supporting women in the automotive sector.

Hyundai Canada Managers Recognised at WXN Awards

Tshiamala was honoured in the Canadian Tire Community Impact category, recognising her efforts to create positive changes in communities. She is a founding member of Accelerate Auto, which seeks to increase Black representation in the automotive industry. Tshiamala also established a scholarship at Ontario’s Georgian College for Black students pursuing careers in this field.

In her role at HAC, Tshiamala uses data insights to enhance customer satisfaction, particularly focusing on after-sales services. She has held four progressive roles since joining Hyundai Auto Canada in 2015 and was named a "Canadian to Watch" by Automotive News Canada in 2022. Her leadership extends to supporting diversity initiatives within HAC's advisory group.

Don Romano, President and CEO of Hyundai Canada, praised both managers: "Congratulations to two of our outstanding managers and thank you to our partner organizations for recognizing their efforts and commitment." He highlighted their advocacy for the automotive sector and their positive impact on the industry.

Impactful Contributions

Kirk Merrett, Director of Human Resources and Administration, expressed pride in Mior and Tshiamala's achievements: "Their work has positively impacted many members of under-represented communities, encouraging them to dream bigger and break barriers." He thanked WXN for acknowledging their contributions.

The WXN Top 100 Awards have celebrated 1,731 women since their inception in 2012. The 2024 winners were honoured at an event featuring journalist Lisa LaFlamme in conversation with Andrea Bain at Toronto's Fairmont Royal York on November 27.
