Tesla We Robot: Cybercab & Robovan Autonomous Vehicles Unveiled, Optimus Robot Showcased
Elon Musk showcased the Cybercab, Robovan and Optimus at the "We, Robot" event at Warner Bros. studio in Burbank, California. While the Cybercab is a 2-seater autonomous vehicle and the Robovan can carry up to 20 people or goods, the Optimus is a fully functional robot designed to do everyday chores.
Cybercab
The Cybercab, as mentioned is a two-seater transport vehicle. What makes it quite different to the current crop of Tesla cars is that it comes without traditional driving controls. This deliberate move can be considered a symbol of Tesla's ambition in the realm of driverless technology.

Elon Musk also revealed that 21 Cybercabs and a total of 50 autonomous cars were present at the event, although he did not specify production locations. This vehicle will feature inductive charging, eliminating the need for manual plug-ins.
Robovan
The Robovan on the other hand is designed to address high-density transport needs, and it could potentially revolutionize how teams and goods move around. As mentioned, the Robovan is capable of carrying up to 20 people or goods and the model will feature inductive charging like the Cybercab.

Optimus
The event also showcased Tesla's humanoid robots named Optimus. Musk assured attendees that these robots, which would be serving drinks at the event, are a testament to Tesla's broader ambitions in robotics and autonomous technology.
The event culminated in a lively "party" atmosphere, with dancing Optimus robots entertaining the crowd. This was Tesla's first major product unveiling since the Cybertruck in 2019.
The Optimus humanoid is said to cost less than a car with a price tag of between USD 20,000 (Rs 16.85 lakh, approximately) and 30,000 (Rs 25.22 lakh, approximately). This makes the Optimus a lot cheaper than the Tesla Model 3, which starts at around USD 40,000 (Rs 33.62 lakh, approximately).
Other Details
Musk's announcement marks a significant step towards realizing his long-held dream of bringing fully autonomous vehicles to the market.
Also, the company plans to make these innovative vehicles available for under $30,000 before 2027. However, despite his optimistic projections, Musk's journey with autonomous vehicles has been marked by missed deadlines and unmet expectations.
That being said, Musk's commitment to making autonomy a cornerstone of Tesla's future remains unwavering. Also, despite the current requirement for a human driver to supervise FSD-equipped cars, Musk's vision for a driverless future is clear.
