Old Honda Amaze To Be Sold Alongside The New-Gen Amaze
Honda has recently introduced the third-generation Amaze, yet it will continue to offer two variants from the previous generation. This strategy mirrors Maruti Suzuki's approach with the Dzire, where two generations are sold simultaneously. The second-gen Amaze will be available in S and VX variants, exclusively with a petrol manual transmission setup.
Second-Gen Amaze Pricing and Options
Dealers have confirmed that the second-gen Amaze's S variant starts at Rs 7.71 lakh, while the VX variant is priced at Rs 9.13 lakh (ex-showroom, India). In contrast, the new third-gen Amaze begins at Rs 8 lakh for the V version and reaches up to Rs 10.9 lakh for the ZX variant. The ZX offers features like Honda Sensing ADAS and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Target Customers
Unlike Maruti's Dzire Tour S aimed at fleet buyers, Honda targets all customers with its second-gen Amaze. This provides more choices based on budget preferences. Additionally, buyers can convert the second-gen model to a petrol-CNG setup through an RTO-approved centre at the dealer level.
Engine and Gearbox Details
Both generations of the Amaze share a 1.2-litre 90hp petrol engine. However, only the third-gen offers both a five-speed manual and a CVT gearbox option. Sources indicate that an automatic gearbox won't be available for the older model. This dual-generation strategy allows Honda to cater to diverse customer needs by offering varied pricing and feature options across its lineup.

DriveSpark Thinks
Selling the previous-generation model alongside the newer model is not a new strategy for Honda as the 4th generation City was sold alongside the outgoing model in India. Apart from that, Toyota is selling the Innova Crysta alongside the newer Innova Hycross.
Since both the above examples proved to be quite successful in the Indian automobile market, we expect this to be startegy to be fruitful in the case of Honda Amaze sedan as well.
