Maserati Achieves Second Place In GT2 European Series At Hockenheim
Philippe Prette secured a second-place finish overall in Race 1 at the Hockenheim circuit, Germany, during round 4 of the Fanatec GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli. Driving the LP Racing number 2 Maserati GT2, Prette also clinched victory in the Am class. This marked his fourth win of the season in this category.
Prette began Race 1 from pole position but lost the lead early on. However, a strategic pit stop allowed him to recover and finish second overall. This performance ensured his win in the Am class. In Race 2, despite starting from pole again, an early pit stop setback pushed him out of contention for the top spots. The safety car's intervention later helped him secure third place in the Am class.
In contrast, Alexandre Leroy faced difficulties throughout the weekend. Arriving as the standings leader, he ended up with two fifth-place finishes in the Am class. A 12-second penalty for a fast pit stop in Race 1 and a collision while battling for the lead in Race 2 hindered his performance.
Leonardo Gorini and Carlo Tamburini had a challenging weekend in the Pro Am class. Starting from the back due to issues in qualifiers, their comeback attempt in Race 1 was cut short by an early contact forcing them to retire. They managed a better recovery in Race 2, starting from the pit lane and finishing seventh overall, fourth in their class.
The next event for the Fanatec GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli is scheduled at Italy's Autodromo di Monza from 20 to 22 September.
