Maruti Suzuki Price Cut: Alto K10, S-Presso Made Cheaper To Boost Sales
Maruti Suzuki has reduced prices for the Alto K10 and S-Presso models. The entire S-Presso range now sees a Rs 2,000 price cut, while the top-spec VXI variant of the Alto K10 has been reduced by Rs 6,500 (ex-showroom). This move comes as both models have experienced a decline in sales over the past year.
In August 2024, Maruti Suzuki's total domestic passenger vehicle wholesales were recorded at 1,43,075 units. This marks an 8 percent decrease from the 1,56,114 units sold in August 2023. The entry-level models, Alto K10 and S-Presso, have particularly struggled with sales.

Price Adjustments to Boost Sales
The combined sales figures for the Alto K10 and S-Presso stood at 12,209 units in August 2023. However, this number dropped by approximately 13 percent to 10,648 units in August 2024. Maruti Suzuki is attempting to counter this trend with strategic price cuts.
The Alto K10 saw its sales peak at 12,395 units in January 2024. Since then, there has been a steady decline: 9,043 units were sold in April and only 7,353 units in July. Similarly, the S-Presso's sales fell from 3,454 units in January to 2,476 units in April but slightly recovered to 2,607 units in June.
Dream Edition Line-Up
To stimulate interest and boost sales of its entry-level models, Maruti Suzuki introduced the Dream Edition line-up in June this year. This limited-run campaign has been extended and is expected to continue until Diwali.
The prices for the S-Presso now range from Rs 4.26 lakh to Rs 5.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the Alto K10 is priced between Rs 3.99 lakh and Rs 5.80 lakh (ex-showroom). These adjustments are part of Maruti's strategy to make these models more appealing to budget-conscious buyers.
Despite these efforts, Maruti Suzuki recorded an overall decline of about 8 percent in total sales. The company sold fewer vehicles compared to the same period last year. This trend highlights the challenges faced by entry-level models like the Alto K10 and S-Presso.
Maruti Suzuki's focus on adjusting prices and introducing special editions aims to revive interest among consumers. The company hopes these strategies will help mitigate the ongoing downtrend in their entry-level segment.
