Mercedes-AMG G 63 4x4² Gets A Menacing Makeover By Mansory
Not all Mansory projects are over-the-top; sometimes, they surprise positively. Their latest work on the Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² is an example. The vehicle's black exterior gives it a menacing look, hiding the usual Mansory modifications like attachments at both ends, a bulging hood, and a roof-mounted wing.
Design and Features
The wheels, measuring 9.5x22 inches on both axles, might seem more suited to a Rolls-Royce or Mercedes-Maybach. However, they fit well with the aggressive design of this truck. Fortunately, they aren't wrapped in rubber band tires, preserving the off-roading capabilities of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4².

A standout feature is the coach doors. Mansory moved the rear door hinges from the B- to the C-pillar and repositioned the handles. This change gives off Rolls-Royce vibes, although the interior isn't as luxurious as one from Goodwood factory in England.
Interior and Customisation
Mansory opted for black Alcantara with orange piping and custom embossing for most components inside. This includes the dashboard, center console, seats, and steering wheel. Orange metallic accents add to the makeover, along with Mansory's signature touches like "One of Ten" on the center console.
The standard Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² shares its 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine with its regular counterpart. However, Mansory's version boasts increased power output. The tuner claims it now produces 850 horsepower (838 brake horsepower), translating to 625 kilowatts and 738 pound-foot (1,000 Nm) of torque.
Performance Enhancements
This is a significant upgrade from the stock model's 577 horsepower (585 ps/430 kW) and 627 pound-feet (850 Nm) of torque. The stock motor comes with a nine-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. The normal G 63 reaches a top speed of 137 mph (220 kph) and accelerates to 60 mph (97 kph) in 4.5 seconds.
Given its larger size and weight, the G 63 4×4² is slower than its standard counterpart. However, with Mansory's enhancements, it likely approaches similar performance levels.
Overall Impression
The Mansory-tuned Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² impresses despite some extravagant features like rear suicide doors. It manages to stay within tasteful limits compared to other builds by this tuner. Do you find this project appealing?
